We offer many surgical options that can help improve your vision and improve the health of your eyes. Dr. Traynor will discuss with you the various treatment options to help you make an informed decision about the treatment of your eyes. Come see what surgical options may be of benefit for your eyes.
Modern cataract surgery is performed through very small incisions made into to the clear cornea of the eye. The lens is removed by breaking it up into very small pieces that are then flushed out of the eye. An artificial lens is then placed inside the eye to help provide clear vision. If you think that cataracts may be affecting your vision, Dr. Traynor can help you decide if cataract surgery may be the right choice for you.
YAG laser capsulotomy
Following cataract surgery, nearly one out of four patients will experience a blurring of vision due to a cloudy film behind the implanted lens. This may develop months or even years after cataract surgery. Patients with the cloudy film report cloudy or blurry vision, somewhat similar to the symptoms they experienced prior to cataract surgery.
A straight-forward laser procedure using the YAG laser can restore visual clarity by removing this cloudy film. This laser procedure usually takes less than fifteen minutes and does not cause pain.
Glaucoma surgery can help preserve your vision by lowering the pressure within the eye. A number of surgical options are available including laser procedures and operating room surgeries.
