Dr. Jones is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has proudly served the Pocatello community for nearly 30 years. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology with an emphasis on cataract surgery and intraocular lens implants, and enjoys caring for patients with a wide range of eye conditions.
Robert R. Jones, M.D., practiced ophthalmology for many years in Southeast Idaho before joining Premier Eye Care in July 2026. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, graduating Summa Cum Laude from BYU in premedical studies. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received the Lange Medical Publications Award for outstanding achievement.
Dr. Jones completed an internship in internal medicine and emergency medicine at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals before completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During his final year, he served as Chief Resident in the Department of Ophthalmology.
He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and maintains this distinction through continuing medical education and periodic board recertification. His most recent recertification was completed in 2023.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Jones is an avid runner and has won two gold medals in the 800-meter race at the World Senior Games. He also enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.
